Rammey
Island
This
is the web page for our camp site at Rammey Marsh near Waltham Abbey.
The site is owned by the Environment Agency. We have been tennants there
for many years. The site boasts a fairly large hut with bunk beds.We
have a landing stage for boating and regulary do canoing and rowing
on the site. We also sail Toppers there. The site is fantastic for patrol
camping and is a greenfield site. This means we have to do camping the
way it was intended. We have water either side of the land so everything
is at the moment done by boat. We have two old metal lifeboats for this
job and they also serve as the rowing boats. The site is very peaceful
and we hardly hear any noise except for the odd passing boat, cyclist
or the faint noise of a truck on the M25. The site is a brilliant place
to have a go at water activities as the water on the river lea is slow
moving mostly, allowing the scouts to learn at the right pace.Once a
year we have a family fun day there and all the sections take part.
