Well this week has to go down in 201st history! we had a call last week to be told we had boats floating all over the river lea. Our fears had come true we had unwelcome visitors at our camp site and they were intent on making a mess.

When the first team arrived Thursday to clear up they did in fact find boats all over the lea. We found out that the fishing club had also been hit and they had lots of things missing as well.

We have lost 2 generators , petrol cans, lifejackets, paddles, lights, 2 toppers and 1 canoe and we will probably find other stuff missing when we next use the place in daylight as well. Alan had to buy new padlocks and we eventually got the stuff in and locked it back up.

We had the police come down on the Saturday to take a statement and see if they could get fingerprints but only managed one as the boatss had been in the water and distroyed the evidence.

We did mange to find one of the toppers so will get that back but we are still well down on what we had.

I then had a phone call from Lesley who was at our bag packing weekend at ASDA to say they had been asked to leave because we were the wrong kind of charity!

"What " I said you must be jocking . It did turn out to be true and that has also cost the group £2000 as this is what we normally get from that weekend. So robbed twice is true ASDA have taken much needed funds away from us because we are not the right kind of charity. Thats community spirit for you. We have no chance of getting that money back and that puts the minibus fund short as well. We apologise to all the supporters and parents and the scouts who had kept the weekend free to come and help we are truly grateful and we really hope this will not put you off helping in the future when we find a new venue to do it lets hope we can get one soon to get us back on track.

Now a plea if you are a supporter of the group and are as angry as we are, and you shop over there at asda in Leyton. We really hope like me you will not give asda your trade anymore i would not shop in there again after this and i hope you will tell your friends
